FAQ

How old is too old to get into archery?

The simple and only answer is never. Although archery is a physical sport and requires a reasonable degree of mobility and strength, you don’t need to be physically fit. However, it can also be suitable for those with a disability – including the blind or partially sighted. So, you can start archery at any age.

What is the best draw weight to start with?

For a beginner seeking to develop good form, it is generally recommended that you choose the highest draw weight that you can pull back and hold steadily for 30 seconds with ease. This is usually 15-25# for a recurve or traditional bow, and 30-45# for a compound bow (due to the let-off).

What should I wear for the lesson?

Once you know where you’re going, consider what to wear. Choose clothes and shoes that are comfortable, because you’ll be standing while you shoot. Many archers wear jeans for practice or athletic attire. No open-toed shoes, no flip-flops, no high heels are allowed. No jewelry, watches, rings, and anything else that might get tangled in, or impede the movement of, the bow and/or arrow.
